fuel filler neck grommet o ring

I'm kind of thinking not? The one that fits F-body shows the same grommet for 1974 and up A, B, C, E and F body. Something must have changed after 1973.
Dorman has a replacement BUT, their applications list only goes back to 1981. If it's the same as 1974-1980, it's only about $8.50 with a big downside,,,,,,,,,,,,,,MADE IN CHINA.:( Quality could be questionable. Let me rephrase that. Quality WILL be questionable.

The flapper filler door? As the BluesBrothers said "still run on regular gas..." The filler necks may have gotten fatter or skinnier?

Yup...4002010...thats the one....fits a huge number of Mopars across a lot of years...including all the F's, M's and J's too.
I've seen prices range from $8 to as much as $40. Same part. Go figure.

Just got back from Dante's Mopar parts and 12 bucks later. Can you spot the subtle difference

We used a micrometer and the new one is thicker at the notch by .0004- where the metal edge of the tank. Already:

use a little bit of vasoline

So Dante's has the grommet for 12 bucks and it works

I bought a bunch of part number 3404182 (and other things) back when Chrysler was having $ problems, a few years ago – just so I could have them when I needed them.
I don’t know if it is the same part as 4002010, or not (hadn’t looked into it), but it is also a fuel filler neck grommet.

When I bought part # 3404182, they cost me about $4.00 each or so (going by memory) and this would have been in early 2009 or so. The production date on my grommets, is 1/15/2009.

With all of my spare parts, I have vacuum packed the parts using my wife’s food vacuum packer (I don’t think she knows yet), to keep the rubber deterioration down to a minimum (as I try to do with all of my spare parts).
In Oklahoma, with the 80-90% humidity in summer time, it doesn’t take any time at all for rust to have a huge party (ie: I have had many a new part, be rusted beyond use, still in the box in a dry shelf – because of high humidity).
I’ve even tried putting new parts in Ziploc Baggies – and that also doesn’t do much good, either.

FYI, I just looked it up, the current MSRP from Chrysler on part # 3404182 is $54.95 as of today (ouch!).
Part number 4002010 shows to still be available new, and MSRP is $16.70 (US)

I “think” p/n 3404182 superseded to 4002010 – (going by memory) but not 100% sure.

AT $12.00 – you can’t go wrong (still expensive, though).

Can you make out the part number on your old and new grommets?
I can’t from the picture.
