Grinding throw out bearing?

I have a 76 aspen 318 4 speed. Yesterday I adjusted the "clutch fork adjuster bolt" now the pedal returns past over center. However when running up on the highway over 4k rpm there's a grinding noise and the pedal vibrates. Once light pressure is applied it goes away.

Any ideas? Do I adjust the bolt longer? (More separation) or go back to a lower pedal? Not sure what's causing the noise/vibration.

Sounds like you went the wrong way with the adjustments, and also a bad throw out bearing besides

My GUESS is, the bearing is rubbing on the pressure plate fingers a bit. Not enough to spin the bearing but enough for slight contact. Try backing the adjustment off a turn or two, and see if the noise goes away. There should be about an inch (or so) of freeplay at the pedal.

The bearing is probably worn a little, but if it's quiet otherwise, it doesn't warrant replacing.
