Lean burn deleted, now transmission does not shift properly

I deleted the lean burn on my 84 Gran Fury, At first I just changed the distributor along with any other electronics that came in the kit I bought. I left the old carb alone. It shifted fine, went into passing gear and everything, but had a dead spot upon acceleration. I finally got around to swapping out the carb, it is a nos 2 bbl carb for a 1978 mopar 318. The car runs great now, never ran better, but The transmission does not shift correctly since I made the carb swap. any ideas?
 
Check the setup of the.throttle lever. That's the rod linkage from carb to trans. It's important to setup correctly.
 
Like 69- said. Everyone calls it kick down linkage but it's really throttle valve linkage, which controls fluid pressure. If it's misadjusted, shift points will be too high or too low,,,,,,,and if too low, potentially smoke the trans also.
 
Get underneath and loosen the adjustment block and make sure it slides easily, hold the lever on the transmission forward and tighten the block.. You're pretty much getting rid of slack. Should be done with engine warmed up.

There's no adjustment on the upper rod, no special tools or locking anything in place like that video shows.

But I like that video! lol I know its not specific to our cars. I think it explains how it works in a general way
 
Yeah this old videos and cartoon instruction guides are neat. They must have simplified it when it came down to one model using that setup.
 
Well everyone, I got the issue straightend out, basically, I'm an idiot, I never noticed the throttle cable was disconnected up top. I reconnected it and everything works as it should. Thank you for all the input, the car never ran so good!
