Ferruccio Lamborghinin started off in the farming equipment business. He made enough to finance the startup of Lamborghini automobiles. Their first car wias a front engined V12 (called the 350GT, more of an Aston Martin type car than a Ferrari). Mostly went un-noticed in comparison to the press they get today. Then came the P400 prototype (called the Muira in production, and has defined the layout of supercars ever since), and Lamborghini, as it currently known, was born. It was followed by the Espada, Jarama, Uracco, and eventually the LP500 prototype, which became the Countach in production.
There is a small Mopar connection in the Lamborghini Cheetah, a military vehicle (sort of an early Humvee) that used a rear mounted Chrysler V8. It never went past the prototype stage.
Eventually, for a while, Chrysler owned Lamborghini. The Diablo was brought out while Lamborghini was owned by Chrysler.
