To wife's question 'why':

Because... (I can)

And yes, she hates that answer

I figured I’d got out for dinner in the lap of luxury tonight. It’s about damn time!

So far I'm very happy with how the Sniper is doing. I've only put almost 30 miles on it last night and the transmission doesn't slip, but seems hesitant to shift at normal shift points. I couldn't even really pinpoint where the shift points were because they'd seem different after one stop and the next. I forgot to tell this shop the reason I ordered a sump was because I wanted an internal fuel pump, so they didn't install the sump and put on the inline pump, which is noisy, but I'll live with it for a while. The Spectra Premium fuel sending unit is way off. I filled the car up and it's only showing 1/4 tank. I took today off to enjoy the car some more before the next snow. They're calling for 3 inches tomorrow. We're supposed to have some sun pretty soon, so I'll take some pics of the engine bay.

How’s it controlling kick-down/throttle pressure for the transmission, cable? If cable, just back it off the cable nut a hair/add a little slack and it will start to shift more like normal, you’ll have to make a few laps around the block and adjustments to get it just right.

This is why little boys need things like BBguns and Sling shots…Dennis the Menace would be proud.

You know, I was thinking about that at work today. I'll look at this Sunday (nicer weather) and give that a try. I did a Google to see if others had similar issues, but most people use the larger 4 barrel versions. The shop that installed mine even said it was their first time working with the small bore 2 barrel unit. It'll shift to 2nd gear around 35mph, slightly sooner if I hit the pedal good, and seems to hit 3rd somewhere in the 50-60mph range. Other than the shift patterns being pretty whacked, the Sniper itself is beautiful compared to the lean burn, much better response in driving and on making turns. I feel a difference in power, a big part of that due to the resonators being removed. When I get to the storage unit I'll take and post a few pics of the setup with the air cleaner housing removed.

Yea, I’d bet a slice of pizza the cable adjustment is just a hair too tight. Should be in second by like 15mph under part throttle. Quick enough fix with a small Allen wrench for the Allen set bolt on the cable nut at the throttle arm…I had fiddled with mine enough the car will drive close enough to stock shift points, but I can get it to auto down shift into first gear at 35mph if I whack it WOT and roast the tires a little.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying the Sniper overall.

I knew it was supposed to shift around the 12-15mph area into 2nd gear, but memory is fuzzy on the 2nd to 3rd shift. I got my tools at the storage unit, i should have what I need to work with it.

Depending on gearing as low as 16-20mph for 2.26gears or 13-16mph for 2.94 gears…real molasses like.

brought this home. Have put off building it for the better part of a year. I had shattered my thumb in January, was at odds with my employer, had to find new work, started traveling for work, had to make time for my wife and son, and so the car has just sat on stands for a year…see if I can give myself a running driving car to finish the year off.
