Real engine specs

I'm just curious with all the different information out there what's more accurate u know? What's the real specs for a 68 vintage 383/4 from a polara? I hear 335hp 425tq and also what would that be at wheels in my Mirada? Thx guys.

Those numbers are probably right for a 1968 383 with a four barrel...subtract 20% for automatic tranny loss and that will be a close guess to what you will have at the rear wheels. :icon_study:

OK but back then they fudged HP and tq numbers we all know that. And its got the factory hi flow exhaust manifolds so yeah why would the numbers be the same lol. Not to mention my friend had a 69 roadrunner with 383/4 speed and he said he only got beat by 440/6 challenger and bb vette but totally raped many BBC chevelles novas mustangs etc so?

Na here's a a little fact about a small block 318....230 horsepower in 1968...by 1980 it had 140 horsepower..no need to fudge numbers..thats compression ratio all the way...I bet the 1968 318 was 10:1 and I know the dog 1980 one was 8.2:1..they did the same with the big blocks...a 1973 motor home 440 was best at 8.5:1 compression ratio...all they did different was stab a RV torque cam in there that gave them some torque.:angel13:
