I shall swap my 7 1/4" rear axel to the better one 8 1/4" on the G22 1978
One question arise:
The 8 1/4" seems to have 11" brake drums. My 7 1/4" not sure as the car is stored in our house over in
Sweden. I have a feeling it has 10". Spare brake linings and all fittings bought a year ago.
If so would it be possible to swap the smaller shield and drums complete to the larger 8 /14" axel or perhaps easier to buy
the 11" drums and brake drums and hardware?

Yes more then likely your original had 10". You can pull the axle shafts and swap the backing plate over, doing that means you don't have to touch the brakes at all or disconnect the lines. That's what I'd do to make use of the psrts you already bought but keep the 11" backing plate and parts on case you want to do that upgrade in the future.
If you do have to run new lines and replace the wheel cylinder I'd at least price out the rest of the parts now.
