As I have laid my hands on a 8 1/4" rear axel for her I have had some valuable tips regarding swapping from 7 1/4". The axel is in fine fettle and complete.
I know I have to have a shorter differential and that represent no problem as a friend of mine has the correct one here in Norway.

But: The problem are the backing plates for the rear springs. Part numbers 3845128 -9. They seem unobtainable but again: I have been informed that the later ones with part number 4014710-711 will fit. I see from the spares book 1983 that those fits both axels. Attached a copy of the spares book.

Anybody of our wonderful members who may confirm this please? It should be easier to find and as far as I see the only difference is the bracket for the sway bar. All hints and tips where to find a pair is most welcome. So far a lot of members have helped me for which I am most grateful.

Take care all of you these days and safe driving.'

All the very best.

Spring plates, numbers 4014710 and 4014711 can be used in place of spring plates, numbers 3845128 and 3845129. The only difference is the bracket for the rear sway bar end link mount which is welded onto the plate.

4014710 and 4014711: (NOTE: shock absorber and spring parts are not shown to highlight the sway bar specific parts.)

U-bolts ("Clip"), are the same for both plates, part number 3845264. 4-3/8" Length, 7/16-20 Thread.
