round iron dounut holding exhaust on hanger

what is it i went to do the tranny mount today and the exhaust mount has threads in the facing back side where the hanger mount theres a 3lbs iron dounut thats exactly what it looks like ill get pics me on my dad counldnt figure ount what it was for or a reason to put it back on the exhaust hangs fine with ount that hanger ima talke it all the way off.

any ideas?
 
heres a pic it looks exactly like i stated a dounut with a 9/16 bolt it may b a stock exhaust hanger i beleive the exhaust is bone stock single pipe.

I think thats whats called a vibration damper.
something to do with the tailshaft of a 904 tranny.
the 727 didnt have them. I read something about it
years ago. Can't remember exactly why. It has to be
in some Mopar archives somewhere.
 
well im running my car without one the new mount came complete not a rubber on steel refill and the new one was not boxed together with the threaded holes for the hanger i removed it all this morning
