Up until last week when I removed the headliner from my car, I had no idea what this was. So that little black button on the inside of the door jamb which pushes in when the door is closed, is connected to a cable which runs up to the seat belt retractor mechanism, to relieve the tension on the seat belt. Or something like that.
However, mine is very stiff under all conditions. It resists pulling out/going back in, regardless of whether or not the door button is pushed in or not.
Is there a way to test if this thing is working correctly, and possibly how to lube or fix it? Or do I even need to hook it up at all?
