Your timing marker is broken off. That little stud/nut just above the pulley is where it should be

Thanks, Camtron. Looks like you're right. Now I need to find a replacement tab.
Anyone got any ideas as to where I can find an original style bolt on timing tab/indicator?

I don’t, I did a rudimentary search and didn’t get anything back but, by the looks of it, it looks like it’s at TDC at the moment. The timing indicator normally lines up at about 11 o’clock if I remember correctly. I haven’t touched a slant close to 20 years now.

Thanks for the reference picture, DCAspen. That's probably the style of indicator needed for my '80 slant. Gonna have to be on the lookout.
At least the timing seems to be okay so it's not a pressing issue.
