I know this has been covered 100s of times here, but I am trying to get a feel as to what will fit and look right. Currently I have a 1980 Plymouth Volare/Duster with factory aluminum rally wheels(or what ever they were called that year) with 215/75R14s I would like to go to 15s on 70s style rally wheels, Road Wheels or Police wheels. Will 245/60R16 fit or is it a better idea to go with 235/60R15s. What rim dimensions should I be getting. I do plan to go to FFI torsion bars, I am unsure which springs to do in the rear.....I prefer the car to sit level and be on the firm side. I was thinking 5 leafs per side in the rear....Any info would be helpful.

Thanks

Dave

I like the 70 series tire on F bodies to fill up the wheel well. Here is what I am running. 215/70/15 on a 6” rim on the front and 235/70/15 on a 8” rim on the back. Gives a nice little forward rake, and as stated, fills up the wheel wells.

That is a great looking 80 RR. What are you running for rear springs?

Have 255/60 rear and 245/60 front on my ‘89 M body. wheels are 15x7 front and 15x8 rears with 0 offset, 5 leafs in the rear, stock torsion bars up front with new poly bushings.
No issues at all.

That looks really sharp....as a teen all our local cops had Gran Furys so I have a certain love hate relationship with M-bodies....but I like how your car sits

16x8 on 4" backspacing (zero offset) with 255/50R16 BFG Gforce Sports.
Needed a slight rolling of the rear inner fender pinchwelds on the lowered M-body
And some flat head hardware on the front wheel arch trim of the F-body.
In other words, pretty much the absolute fattest square setup you can squeeze on these cars...

Nice!

I have been wondering/thinking of stuffing a bigger tire(s) the next time around...well worth considering the 70 profile!
