Is there a direct fit Borgeson P/S unit for the M body? Upgrading for a daily driver. I'm looking to remove that sloppy factory unit and make the steering much more predictable. I saw something for SB but not the 225. Thanks

I bought their 800127 Conversion Box, 1-1/4" diameter sector/pitman shaft.

Was it a "direct fit"...??? Umm, close enough, but there are a couple of things that you need to account for:

1) secton/pitman shaft diameter: there are two, ours is the larger one 1-1/4"
2) box to steering column shaft connection, through the coupler, requires you to either do a little fabbing or to buy a pre-made deal from one of the Borgeson resellers, Bergman I believe

What I did was to buy a Borgeson coupler #312500, which is a properly splined for us, then I did a trial install, measured (several times), cut the coupler down to size and had the local trusted race shop weld that coupler onto a factory coupler. Basically a DIY Bergman setup.

Oh, one more thing: I use a power steering cooler in my setup, so this was a very frustrating hit'n'miss effort to get the right hoses and fittings. In fact the hose Mark tossed my way required me to buy a new power steering pump fitting...holy hell aggrevation, in hindsight that was probably the biggest challenge in getting all this put together.

Finished up, here is what that looks like. I have since put heat shield/wrap around the lines b/c those TTI pipes sure give off a LOT of heat!!!

Just buy the entire thing through Bergman and get his coupler. It's all bolt in. I've done this on two vehicles.

What was cost for the entire thing ?

The kit that includes the box, column adapter, etc is $850. You'll need a pressure hose. They sell it or you can make your own out of PTFE hose. I made my own and kept it all AN. Out the door your look at about $1k.

BAC Steering Box Conversion Kit - Large Sector 73-82 - Bergman Auto Craft

I did the conversion eight or nine years ago. Price hasn't gone up too much. I think I did it all for $850. Not bad all things considered.

Thanks. How do you like it ?

One of the best upgrades I did to the car. Completely removed the slop at 12 'o clock and tightened the steering up lock-to-lock. For a worm screw box it's not going to get any better.
