wheel bearing race

I'm having trouble removing the inner bearing race on a 78 lebaron. Auto zone told me it doesn't come out that you have to buy a new rotor. Is that true?

I've never seen one that wouldn't come out.

I have had to resort to destroying a good chisel to get them out at times.. ..

Anyone know a good trick to get the race out with basic tools?

big hammer, turn the side down you want to get the race out of, on the concrete, with a long drift or punch, through the hub and on the race shoulder strike with much vigor. watch your fingers....

Sometimes there is a "groove" or 2 in the hub that gives you a little more "meat" to hit on
