Hello all,

Before Thanksgiving, I tore into my door because the glass was rattling around when it was in the down position. Upon inspection, the plastic sleeve (that goes between the guide post and the lower guide hole in the metal mounting bracket for the window) had split in half and fell apart. I put it back together, but once the window went down once or twice, the sleeve fell out again.

It's hard to explain in terms I understand, and I'll try to send a picture of what I'm referring to from the parts manual.

Any ideas on where I could locate a new one? I did a quick check in some of the major parts stores, with no luck.

It's part number 3788 080 in the book. It's a plastic ring with wedges formed to press into the metal bracketry, and serves as a buffer between the two metal surfaces.

Like I said, I'll try to post a picture from the PDF.

A used one is probably all you'll find,would a rubber washer work?

A rubber one might work but I'm worried it'll just year after 20 uses. I think there's a volare that's being sold whole or parts, might have to take two off of that one and save one for the passenger side, when it inevitably fails.

Today I went out to fix the problem. Since the correct part couldn't be found, I had to make one....

I purchased a 1" plastic end cap from a local hardware store. I took the door panel off, and got to work.

I first drilled a hole into the cap using a step bit. From there, it was a combination of cutting and grinding with a dremel.

I decided to also grind down the hooks on the cap, because there's no room for them to move when it's between the glass bracket and guide post.
Once it fit, we just super glued the cut together.

While it's not ideal, it's the best that could be done.
 
Nice fix,I'm sure you'll be able to find a replacement down the road.
 
Not long ago there was a guy that was 3d printing them and selling them. I can`t recall the person at this time. If I come up with them I will send a message.
 
Btw, You may be right on the part number but in the pic #19 or #20 one of them was a felt like oiling pad IIRC.
 
I believe #19 is a felt oiling pad or cushion pad, whatever it's actually for.
Let me dig around, I may have the old ones from my Aspen around yet,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,somehwere. Was lucky enough to find NOS pieces about 15 years ago when building the car. Pretty sure I held onto the old ones, the passenger side was like new yet (no wear), IIRC. Question is, where did they go?????:confused:
 
Yea, I found the mopar part number to be 3788273. It is called a guide. Two were sold on ebay in 2019 but they are no longer available.

Yes, an F and M-body use the same bushing, whether it's 2 door or 4-door.

I've been digging through various boxes of stuff and it seems the old bushings from my car must have gotten tossed or,,,,,,,they're hiding and I just never ran across them. Probably find them by accident 5 years from now, lol.

I made hafass one for my F-body out o thick leather, soaked in oil. I have ideas of how to make it better next time.
 
I bought a 6 from the guy making them. I ordered them off of here but couldn't find the post. The package that he sent them in had no return address and by the time I tried finding him to order more the tracking number was no good. I could use a bunch if anyone can find him. Oh yeah if we do find him read the directions as they twist in......after I broke a few.
