Hey everyone. It's been a while.

I find myself at work and I'm hoping to find out from someone the U-bolt dimensions for the rear (5) leaf springs on my 1980 Volare wagon. I want to order my new springs, bushings, and bolts, but just need to know the size. Given that it's a wagon with the 8 1/4" rear end, I assume that the inside length is 3", and I'm guessing that the diameter is 7/16", but that's just a guess.

Diameter
Inside Length
Length

Hoping to be able to place order before I leave, so if anyone has this info I would greatly appreciate it!

Pictures are from a ‘84 Gran Fury police car (with snowflake wheels). It had just rained.
Notice the clearance between wheels and 11" brake drums.

The differential tube is 3" diameter.
The U-bolt (Chrysler calls it a “Clip”) inner diameter is 3" + 1.4” or 4.4" total (my measurement).
Due to the Iso-clamp design, it matters not if 4 or 5-leaf spring (pictures and measurements were from a 5-leaf system).

My ‘84 parts manual show the same part number regardless of spring:
3845264 4x Clip, 4-3/8"Lgh, 7/16-20 Thd (official description)
152347 8x Nut, Clip

My ‘79 parts manual (I don’t have a ‘80 manual to look at) shows:
3845262 4x Clip, 4-1/8"Lgh, 7/16-20 Thd
3845264 4x Clip, 4-3/8"Lgh, 7/16-20 Thd
152347 8x Nut, Clip

Note: I have no idea why there is a 1/4" difference (and manual didn’t say either) - but you can’t go wrong with having the longer bolt (Clip).

My guess is the longer 3845264 is for the 5 leaf springs and 3845262 is for the 4 leaf.

There's no difference in length of u bolt between 4 and 5 leaf. It's probably difference between 7 1/4 and 8 1/4 axle for the 79 numbers since they had different diameter axle tubes. They were both the bigger size in the 80s.
I'm hoping after 4 years he figured out which one was needed :p

Your right about the diameter of the tubes. Forgot about that. The iso clamp would be is the same position regardless of the amount of leaves.
