Hi,

While its winter, and until I can find my windshield, I was trying to decode the fender codes on my 1982 Mirada. It has two fender code plates, so it was a pretty heavily optioned out car. I have been able to get some codes, but from the code information I have been able to find, there are a number of codes that I can't decode. Here is the list of what I have, and don't have

82 Mirada Fender Codes

L35 - Cornering Lamps
L31 - HD/Fender Mount Turn Signals
M25 - Wide Sill Moldings
N37 - This is probably R37-AM/FM 8 Track Radio (thanks to High Speed Pursuitn (HSP))
CTD - Codes Continued on next Tag (implies second Fender Tag)
G44 - RS Lighted Vanity Mirror
G52 - ?
G63 - ?
G73 - OS Dual Remote Mirrors
H53 - Single Air/Temp/AC
26 - ?
K5C - ?
A01 - Light Package
C57 - 60/40 Seats with Recline
C97 - Trunk Dress Up Pkg.
G05 - ?
SC9 -Nighthawk Blue Paint
D33 - A999 Torqueflite
C - ?
B00 - ?
SC9- Nighthawk Blue Paint
C9C8 - Probably E9C8 - 60/40 Bench - C.A.R.-Passenger Reclining (Thanks to HSP)
E44 - 318 2BBL V8
105 -?
C10988- Serial number (part of VIN)
W08 - Regular Spare Tire Convert.
N88 - Auto Spd. Control
M04 - ?
P31- Power Windows
P41 - Power Door Locks
P45- Power Deck Lid Release
XS22 - Probably XH22 - Dodge Mirada 2 Door Specialty HT (Thanks to HSP)

I'd appreciate any information on any of the codes. I know the car has a power driver side seat, I just don't know which of the missing codes is for the power driver's side seat.

Captain Caravelle:

Thanks for the link, but that doesn't work any more. It asks for the VIN first. I enter that, and hit the Continue button. It then comes up and says that the service has been discontinued, and to try the free VIN decoder. I click on that, and the same cycle repeats.

The jonstiger link has issues. My Mirada VIN decoded as:

DescriptionInterpretationCode
Country:Canada2
Make:DodgeB
Type:Passenger Car3
Safety Systems:manual seat beltB
Line:LancerX
Series:Special, Sport6
Body Style:2 door hardtop2
Engine:2.5L I4 TBI (1986-1993)K
Check Digit:Correct7
Year:Unknown. (Code was C)C
Assembly Plant:Windsor, ON (Canada)R
Sequence Number:
142993

The second link is missing the same codes that I am asking about. I was hoping to find that one of the codes had something to do with the rear end (to find ratio and whether or not is is a Sure Grip). The other thing that I was hoping to do is find out if the alloy wheels were factory installed, and what the original radio installed was (right now, it has an aftermarket Panasonic AM/FM/Cassette).

While these codes are from my 80 Mirada, they might give you an association compared to your similar 82 codes:

XH22 - Dodge Mirada 2 Door Specialty HT
E9C8 - 60/40 Bench - C.A.R.-Passenger Reclining
R37 - Radio - AM/FM Stereo w/ 8-track tape
A75 - Mirada CMX Pkg (includes my 10 spoke wheels)

Hope this helps...

High Speed Pursuit:

The codes for the Seats, radio, and the XH22 sure do. I know the M04 code is part of the moldings group, and the two missing G codes are part of the Glass and Mirrors group. Could be one of the G codes has to do with the tinted windsheild with the darker band at the top, or maybe both do. The codes that are really unknown are the ones that don't seem to fit into any of the documented groups, like the 105, K5C, 26, and C. I would speculate that the 105 and/or the 26 codes could be color codes for the interior (blue in this case0. I don't know what the K5C and C codes are. There is NO documented K group. I suppose that I will need to reverify my fender tag codes again, as I see I have made some typos, as the information that you forwarded would suggest.

I missed it last night, but SC9 is Nightwatch Blue...I just remembered that I have a 1981 Mopar Dealer parts catalog, so here goes:

XH22 - X=Mirada, H=High, 22=2 Dr B-Pillar Hardtop
105 - Vehicle Order Date / Projected Build Date - Jan 05 (1=month, 05=day)
C - 1982
E9C8 - Interior Code (E9 & C8 not defined in book, but since your interior and mine is blue, the common code between us is C8)

I don't have 82 codes but have 75-80 here
So what's left?
The G codes are mirrors/glass and rear defrost.
26 is state code MO in 80.
K5C is stripes/color.

Dr. Lebaron and High Speed Pursuit:

The missing G codes are in the Glass/Mirror group, as you have said, and my documents agree. One of them is probably for the tinted windsheild, one is for the added band on top of the windshield, and the other is the rear defroster (electric wire type). I don't know if the 26 is a state code or not, as the car is in Canada, and from what I got from the previous owner, has always bee in Canada. K5C for stripes/stripe color makes sense, as it has double row pinstripes. Might M04 be the chrome rocker panel moldings? They look like they may have not been on all cars.

I looked over the window stickers for both of my 82 cars and I don't see G52, G63, G05, M04, or K5C. I have G01 and G44. G01 is rear defrost and G44 you already know. Do you have dual lighted vanity mirrors? One G code could be for that. K is stripes. My T-top is K7E (Stripe - bodyside, deck & hood) and K9E (tape stripe). My T-top car has just about every option so I'm just as curious about what those codes could be as you.

I only have body side stripes. Good possibility that the K5 is body side stripes, K7 might be body side, hood, and deck. I think the following letter is for the colour of the stripes. Mine are whitish (could have been white, or cream, look cream now after 30 years), which could be C in K5C. What color are your stripes? If they are a color other than white, then the E in K7E and K9E would likely be the colour. Are your tape stripes and bodyside/hood/deck stripes the same colour?

Red. So I guess K = Stripe. # = Location/Style. Letter = Color.

That is my suspicion at this point. I am a little confused about both the K7 and K9 on your car, though. K5 is body side, K7 is body side, hood, and deck, so what would the K9 on your car refer to? Do you have stripes elsewhere, like around your T-Tops? Or somewhere on the roof? I would expect the E on your car is red, and the C on my car is white, for color codes.

Maybe the color of my up and over roof band? It's black. Only problem is that the coloring is paint not tape.
