How about a 1970 Mopar squad, still "On the beat!"

Jim is a friend of mine-help him dig up parts, sources, et cetera. Really a good guy and a great cop. Seattle Times did this story on the car and put it out on the AP wire. Several papers have picked it up over here, as well as a couple in Europe. Yes, Europe. I spoke w/Jim this afternoon and he kinda chuckled, because this use of the vintage cars as community outreach/PR tools has expanded way beyond what they ever thought...one night he sent me a video of a guy with a knife on a corner, 2 othe units got there first. As Jim pulls up and gets out, the man drops the knife, sits down and you can hear him say "I love that car, Jim..." then goes on a ramble about silver planes spraying things in the air, etc.

Ive often toyed with the Idea of getting an early 73 or 74 Plymouth Satellite 4door painting it black and white and recreating one of the "Cop Out" cars
that John Sherrif raced back in the day. I all ready have the light bar. Don't think that would be a good look for the Mirada though.

It is impossible to find out what happened to John Sheriff or his cars

I don't really know anything about John Sheriff's cars, I just recall a pic of one of his cars in a magazine I don't remember if it was a satellite or a mid 70's fury but it was black and white with all the bells and whistles on the outside of the car, I think it may have been in the 81 or 82 World of Wheels Mag I picked up at the Phoenix world of wheels show. It was probably just a decomissioned cop car turned race car. It just stuck with me over the years

SPD cop humor circa 1986

Kinda goofy, but shows the cops had some humor about some of the crap they dealt with back in the '80's...one of the guys in the video is the interim police cheif and some folks are now lambasting him for participating in it. ME? I find it shows the city leaders, civil and 'community' leaders with all their answers and "I know better than you attitude" haven't done S in about 30 years to combat this issue of street crime and the homeless. Ironic, no?

Beat The Heat Mopar

It might get more traction here:

I've got a 1980 Diplomat 4dr with a cage and the frames tied that was going to be a "Beat The Heat" drag car before it ran afoul of department politics. I'll let it go cheap (and I mean REAL cheap). It's got a clear title and is located in north Texas.

Wish it were closer, I'd probably score a caged car cheaper than it's going to be to have one put in the '88...

Looks just like all the others, 'cept it's green. Rust free, got ALL the parts, it's a slanter (I'll pull it on request).

Honest, looks just like this one, but I removed all the trim and stored it.
