Was looking over the carcass of an '80 Dippy at one yard today just to see if there was anything of possible interest. Noticed the kick panels had this black piece in them and that the aluminium wasn't scuffed due to those pieces, so I pulled them. Also noticed earlier that the hood ornament was busted off, but the base was there and in excellent shape so I grabbed it (it is now sporting a Plymouth emblem on top, going to pull the Pentastar and install this one...it's more 'right' on a Gran Fury)
Walked over to an '81 LeBaron sedan, and bingo-it's a cheapy "Salon" version. And guess what were sitting in the door panels? Perfect "Salon" badges, so I cut the door panels up so as to remove them w/o busting anything- surgical operations in yards usually never wind up successsfully
Also got a set of 2011/2012, 18"x8", 7-spoke, Buick Lucerne rims (w/the TPS' still on the rims!) that were brand-new take-offs for $295 for my '99 Regal. Not a Mopar, true, but on helluva score for the "Metamucil Express"
Darn good day for 'yarding and picking up deals!:walk:

It's getting so that M's are to the yards today what the A's were in the late-'80's, early-'90's, sadly.
Whenever I see one in a yard, I'll go over and see what it has...you never know and it's better to grab today than regret tomorrow. At the very least it is 'trading' stock

Gotta be quick up here in Toronto. The boneyards are crush happy. Found 2 Fifth aves. In the same yard, picked what I could the first day went back the next. 2 Chrysler pancakes in the back of the yard...mind you they'll keep a hyundai. Go figure.

I used to find M's all the time in the Lynnwood Pull a Part and the Tacoma one also. Every once in awhile Southend Auto Wrecking (on East Valley) would get an M or two.

'Pick-N-Pull" corp bought the yards from the Ferrill family (my buddy is good friends w/a bunch of the extended clan). We now call it "Pick-N-Rape" or "Pick-N-Rob," because the pricing seems to go up everytime you go in, they charge an 'environmental' fee (for a brake drum? an emblem?), a core charge, then sales tax (9.9%). Not as cheap as it was before- used turbos are about $60 (then the fees start), superchargers are over $200...it's stupid because I'm sure theft has gone up and they aren't getting the same number of customers (but the check-out is getting waaaay slower).
Meridian and South End aren't too bad!

Gotta be quick here, too.

Our local Pick-A-Part had an '87 Diplomat, vinyl roof car, pretty much like mine, but with some cleaner trim. I went up one day and got the trim and a perfect left taillight. The rear bumper was clean. No dents, no rust, even on the back side.

Didn't have the tools with me to get the bumper, so I cashed out and asked when it was slated for scrap. I was told in two weeks. The wife and I were going on vacation the next day, so okay, I'll be back in a week.

I should have paid them to pull the bumper and hold it for me.

Good luck finding anything from the 70s, 80s, and into the early 90s. When the price of scrape went up in the mid 2000s, the salvage yards went crazy getting ride of their old cars. Theres only a couple places left around here. One is only open on saturday for about 2 hours. The other is in kenosha, and what they have is buried under 4 other car. What a pain.

It's definitely getting to the point of "grab it while you can" It may be only a dream but maybe one day they'll start making repro stuff for F,M & J's the way they do for A's, B's..etc.

Yep. They're crush crazy here in Toronto. I don't think I can make it to "Amarillo By Morning" :headbang:
