Looks like the one on my 79 volare slant except does not have that "reastat" or whatever it is. What do you need for it???? I guess this thing reduces current to the choke piece once it has warmed up??

THAT is a very important part for correct drivability. The round part is the electronic part of the choke thermostat. It shuts pull power off to the heating coil on the bi-metal spring once the under-hood temperatures reach a certain point. You'll note that the resister is a short across the electronic thermostat... That part continues to send some current to the heater so that the bi-metal spring doesn't start to activate the choke once the engine is warmed up. If you didn't originally have the resister on yours, I'd say try it out with it still attached. If the choke pulls off too early, cut out the resister. I got one off an 80's v8 at the local junk yard, worked just fine.
