Has anyone heard from JustWondering? She hasn't posted for quite a while. I hope she's not stuck under a tractor or stranded on the barn roof! LOL. But then it's springtime and she probably has more to do than hours in the day. :D

She is well.

She has been very busy with this, and that, but the big problem has been spotty internet service for her.

I will send along your best wishes to her. :)

She's here.... lurking in the shadows ... keeping an eye on everything said and done ... reporting back to the MOPAR gods .... fighting the good fight against packrats..

Brian is right -- internet has been awful and I'm paying for this. Ugh.

More in a few minutes ...
Am cooking a very bland meal of pumpkin pie with no crust for my husband.
He was able to keep down rice this morning so we are working our way back up to
solid food.

I swear ATT is doing this on purpose.
Everybody, everywhere is doing the rah-rah, cha-cha for 5G.

5G

Heck, I've been without internet more than with it these past few weeks.
And you can't turn to the 'smart' phone for access because my service which is supposed to be 4G keeps degrading to 3G.

Today's 3G is so much weaker than the old 3G when it was competing with 2G.

There is no 2G to degrade back to.

I've had to go back to driving 3 miles south of my house so I can sit in the parking lot at the Church of Christ and get a decent signal.

Makes me wonder if my internet will soon start degrading to dialup.
Dang -- I need a landline now.

But if the degradation continues, my mom will rise from the dead and she and I can once again have a hot cup of tea and fuss with the plants in the greenhouse.

Ah well..

Lol! Glad your still around. I was just wondering too. My internet is Verizon DSL. That's the fastest I can get here. Ridiculous. My cell phone (also Verizon) doesn't work at all at my home. I also have to drive up to the top of the hill to use it or text. I harangued them into giving me a device to make the signal stronger for free, but I haven't hooked it up yet, so I don't know if it will really work or not. So, I still have to have a landline too. I was told that Verizon (or whoever owns the poles and lines these days) simply doesn't want to maintain, much less upgrade, them because they are ancient technology. I haven't had TV for about 3 or 4 years now, because I got tired of paying so much for DirecTV for terrible programs. I can't even get a signal with an old fashioned antenna so, I do without. I'm very used to it now and don't miss it much at all. ;)

My neighborhood was built in 1988, so my electrical cables, phone, and cable is all buried. Fios is a fairytale. I had Comcast cable up til 2007. That service sucked, since it was 30 yearold and could not handle the bandwidth of streaming data and other higher level stuff. I have a DSL and satellite now. Cell phone hotspots for the days when everyone is eating bandwidth like crackers. My neighbor still uses dialup and has a cell phone that only does calls (mine died a few years back, otherwise I'd still have it- DC Aspen used to break my stones about my pink hello kitty phone)

We tried the satellite service, but at the time Hughesnet didn't have good support out here. So we went with WildBlue. They were great-- for about a year-- until about a month after Hughesnet bought them. Then our service degraded so much we tossed the satellite service.

DSL stops about 5 miles south of us.

So that leaves us with the only local provider, run by Mennonites. Nice folks, lousy service.
Generally I lose my Internet sometime between 4 pm on Friday and 9 am on Saturday almost every weekend. I lose the service if the wind gusts are higher than about 20-22 mph. I lose the service if we have a heavy rainstorm come through. And most recently, and I quote "Your sector is down. You are getting interference from someone elses signal. Not much we can do until whomever it is shuts off their device."

And the talking heads worry about everyone being connected all the time. Not here. Not a problem I'll ever have.

NEW CAST MEMBER AT MY HOUSE!!!!

As of yesterday about 4 pm, the old mini-fridge (4.2 cu ft) we've been using since we started building the house (what is it now?? 6 years ago?) is now retired.

We are the proud new owners of a humongous (10.1 cu ft) fridge!

This one has no paint or fiberglass bits on it, no scratches, and seems to cool better. Certainly is larger.

Now to clean the clutter I had to move to fit it in the kitchen and finish the last little bits of baseboard in there.

My punch list is getting shorter. Although I did have to add another task. The dweeb that hooked up the microwave did a great job on putting in an outlet. However, he must have done the stove AFTER the beer drinking started. I swear it looks like he smashed a hole in the side of the wall and literally -- hardwired the stove to the electric in the wall.

No plug, no cover, just some wire nuts and that dreaded black tape.

And, of course, since the cabinets are installed, I will now have to unload the pots and pans, pull the drawer out and lay on the floor working in a short space so I don't hit my head and figure out how I'm going to get a receptacle installed. I would bet money he did not put the hole near a stud so I will probably have to patch the wall as well. He was such a dweeb.

He's never been invited back and, worst of all for him, will never be invited to hunt on the property. Such a doofus.
