No rust. Just a little worn out. Rear axel is clunking and the headliner is gone. That kind of stuff. Runs like a champ. Smoke the right rear tire through all three gears. Hence the rear end clunk. The stude is cool though.
The 88 5th ave runs very strong and never let me down but it's time to build my Studebaker and I want the 318 and other parts. I put on a 4v intake hei ignition and duel exhaust. What's it worth?
Bad picture. But works well and does not gas out interior. Plenty of room behind axel gets close to the filler neck on drivers side. Had to cut some inner fender to get tips to aim correctly.
Made my duel exhaust for my 88 5th ave my self from pre bends bough at the local parts store, used mufflers and spare pipe. Exits just behind the rear wheels like an 80s Malibu looks ok. Sounds great. It is smog exempt though. No cats.
Have been working on the old Edsel lately she runs and drives but needs exhaust... too poor to buy the pipe. The open high compression 460 sounds nice.
You make a good point. I will look at again I cant aford any misshaps. Had my throttle stuck on my 69 Polara when I was 18 the four wheel drums would not hold the 383 so I popped it neutral I can still remember that sound. Wide open for 30 seconds before I fumbled the key off
And then Pow! Lucky...
Cable is fine I moved the cable hold down to the carb pad. I am using an edelbrock 600cfm and an adapter that I port matched to the intake. The air cleaner is off of an early 90s b250 van with a 5.2 magnum. The early magnums used duel snorkel air cleaners with standard 4v carb opening. I will...
Well it is installed and running. It runs very strong for a 318 but as stated the kickdown rod is too short and my car shifts too soon. I will cut and weld the rod with some allthread so I can adjust it to the right lenth. I will take some picks of the ac btacket mods as soon as I can it was not...
I am willing to donate all my lean burn parts to your cause. Sounds like you want that car original and I will be carefull removing my parts
I will let you know how my conversion goes.
On a side note the only crank I have seen not machined for a pilot bushing was Cadillac 472 and 500s never came with a manual trans. But those are old engines and dont remember looking at my 5.9 magnum when I did my swap. I used a 999 and the only problem was the starter. Had to clearence a nub...
Maybe. Is that crank manufactured by them or an offset ground core? I would think most aplications would be performance based and should be machined for a pilot bushing.
