Y’all.
I decided to go easy on the radio so I could play around with different options to see what works best. The advice that 5th Avenue radio placement isn’t optimal for screens/touch controls was good— anything new will likely be remote-mounted in the overhead console.
I’ve got that down...
The stereo I posted would probably run 80-100w, and that might be enough for an M.
It comes in the later model FWD New Yorker 5th Avenue and Imperial.
Maybe it really is so simple as a nice single DIN with Bluetooth.
*edit
My 1989 M-Body 5th has 6x8 rears, and 3.5 fronts? Anything special...
There she is!
This radio would be a nice step up from the ones late M-Bodies would have come with— not that I know the power differences.
Do they take bespoke amps/speakers?
A good question: which vehicles came with the higher-powered later radios like Cam’s— but with the silver buttons that match(ish) our dashboards a bit better?
I feel like I’ve seen them before. Maybe in the Dynasty style Imperials/Fifths?
I think I’m going to do a radio install sometime soon. Since cost is similar, and the MyGig is the last 1.5DIN Chrysler stereo— its worth asking the question.
Additionally: what are y’all running as far as modern stereo/speakers?
My car is a 1989 Fifth Avenue
The rear end wiggle-wobble wasn’t tire related
Something is so off-balance it’s making the car feel like she’s got square back tires.
On the plus side— I’m driving the only Fifth Avenue with blue-stripe tires in the tri-county area
We’ll get this figured out. Thanks again, y’all.
Thanks for the help y’all!
I’ve got the tires ordered and they’ll be installed tomorrow— ended up doing Uniroyal Tiger Paw white walls.
Decided to make a multi-pronged attack plan— tires, bearings and sway bar bushings to dip my toe in—
Then I’ll gather the rest of the bushings and bits...
Hi Y’all! Bought the car a year back— I’m the 2nd owner. She’s an ‘89 model LVP car with the leather and wire wheel caps. 76,xxx miles— super reliable, but she sure is picky about fuel quality! Seems to love the designer non-ethanol stuff.
Its time to get after the tires/wheels/suspension...
Chrysler’s obsoleted the part. Rock Auto has nothing— car-part.com had 4 listed from 84-89, and I’m waiting to hear from them all.
McParts warehouses have nothing that’ll work.
I may not keep this car if it’s going to be this difficult to get parts. This is pretty silly.
The part’s been discontinued!
The car is black cherry with a burgundy interior— 65,000 miles.
Next is a front-end rebuild and fixing the locking rear brakes!
Rain-x doesn’t work! The car isn’t aerodynamic enough for the water to creep out of view— and in-fact, the water from the hood...
Hey Yall! Thanks so much for having me and for this resource!
I was driving on the interstate during a deluge and my wiper arm just slung itself off into oblivion.
My local wreckers, even the Chrysler-specific one, can’t help, and there are no M-Bodies in the local pull-a-part!
Does anyone in...
