Hello everyone,
I am a new member and while I'm from California, I'm a red blooded Mopar guy that loves these cars.
I've owned numerous Mopars over the years and am active on 4 other of Joey's sites under the same screen name. I joined here because While I've never owned an Aspen or Gran Fury, I do like their styling. The emission laws in this state make it impossible to build anything after 1976 model year with any real speed.
I am getting to the point where I'm starting to see that all Mopars don't have to be fast, some can still be great cars that drive nice and look beautiful while doing it.
Oddly, I've found myself looking at Diplomats, Gran Furys and Fifth Avenues with a different perspective than before. I have hot rods already but I don't have a car with comfort as a main factor. I've owned a few C bodies that were too far gone to save so they were parted out.
I've been toying with the idea of picking up a clean and original 4 door with the goal of having something that can be driven at 80 mph as comfortable as many new cars.
I'll check in every so often to see what is new, in the meantime...Cheers to all.

Welcome! It's a lot slower here but also a lot nicer. I wouldn't say an M body is comfortable compared to a Lincoln Town Car. But they're ok-ish when they're sorted out. They're cheap and plentiful out west and down south, so buy 2 and use one as a parts car. Or 3. Because hunting down parts takes a lot of time and effort.

I don't know.
I like the way the 5th avenue and the lebaron ride.
I feel like I'm on a couch, headed down the highway and just generally smile cause it drives the way a car is supposed to, sounds the way a car is supposed to, and doesn't look like everyone else's cookie-cutter suv.
Not squeezed into a form-fitting-for-a-20-year-old seat.

Although... I must admit, I kinda prefer my 2000 chevy seat warmer on cold mornings. Thank goodness that isn't needed very often.

I'll probably go to my grave still pining for a green, 77 Chrysler Cordoba with the round headlights, and center console shifter. (Yes, I already bought the shifter -- but no more cars til one of the Willys Pickups leaves the place.)

Sure glad you come over to our playground, Greg.

Thanks, guys.
In 2015, the wife and I bought this:

That is her car, I worked construction and carried tools so i had this:

Getting the Challenger, it was a novel thing for us because it was the first "car" for both of us in a long time. She had a Honda CRV so the car with a trunk was something different. I've had trucks as daily drivers since the mid 90s. I have project cars and such but having a regular car to drive was something new.
I like having a car again. I'll keep the other stuff but having a classic, regular type car for miscellaneous stuff might be fun. I go to car shows, the wife and I go on scenic drives, out to dinner, visit family and friends and it would be nice to roll around in a clean classic, stock-ish car.
The Fifth Avenues were the last rear wheel drive cars that I used to see come through the junkyards. I've pulled countless radiators, fan shrouds, starters, front disc brakes and other interchangeable goodies from them but never thought I'd want one.
What the heck happened? Did I grow up or get old?
Ha...We all get old if we're lucky.

They're good cars, simple to work on, and the challenge of doing anything with them is part of the fun. Plus you get to meet people from all over the country

The local upholstery shop says they can put seat warmers into cars that never had them, and wire them up to a dash switch. They put them in between the outer covering of the seat and the cushioning. They can put them into the seat only, or the seat and back.

I would think that most electrical systems (including the alternator) would need to be upgraded to handle the extra load, but not sure on that.
