Hi FMJ bodies forum members. I just made a deal on a one family owned 1988 5th Avenue this morning. A bit about my history with these cars: my very first car I bought at age 15 in the late ‘80s was a 1981 Plymouth Caravelle slant 6. It was a twin to the Diplomat used in the TV show Greatest American Hero. My second car was a 1979 Roadrunner 360-4Bbl. I last owned one of these Mopars, a 1980 Aspen 4 door slant 6 in 1998.

Anyways here are a couple pics from this morning. 73,000 km garage kept, last insured in 2003. Been started and yard driven regularly over those years. It is pretty clean, couple scratches and slight sagging beginning in roof liner. Needs tires! They are 30+ years old. Maybe originals.

Hope to find out some good sources of parts and tips from all the experts here.

Some more pics. One of the original mud flaps that reads Chrysler is missing. Can I source a set or should I remove the other 3?

Welcome to the forum, that’s a good looking ride!
Thank you Oldiron440. Appreciate the welcome. It’s got some garage dings and touch up paint dabs but an honest car.
Everything works on it as far as I can tell, including the opera lights, power antenna and the factory power moonroof.

Welcome! Those mud flaps pop up on ebay occasionally. I've even seen the ones that say "Diplomat" and "Volare" out there. If you look long enough you'll find a set.

Patience is everything with finding parts these days

Wonderful cars and I seem to recall I had two mudflaps on my G22. I will check when I return to our house in Sweden as they are no use to me and yours for free. Stainless if I recall correct

I found the old mudflaps in stainless steel. However, they were cracked and not worth giving them away. I should have disposed of them years and years ago but somehow forget them.

Over here very few use mudflaps these days due to better roads. Enjoy life, over here 35 degrees C. Will put new brake drums on my G22. One of the old ones had a piece of it broken.
Take care and safe driving.

Gunnar, are you going to Falkenberg, Sweden, this weekend? I'll be around with my 69 Charger.

And welcome to the new member Lando.

Well, brand new tires on the 5th Avenue today. Drove home on the freeway. It pulls quite a bit to the left and the steering has a fair amount of play in it. Looking at that next. I suppose: tie rod ends, ball joints the usual suspects. It won’t get done for a couple weeks from now as I’m away.

Also the A/C will need a charge or more. It blows just slightly cool. Hope I can get R-12. I don’t know costs or process about converting to 134-A.

It starts and purrs like a kitten. Floats down the road.

Beautiful car. I have owned 2 of them myself. A triple grey one and a triple blue one. Both nice condition and loaded. Both were not for sale. However, someone offered me way more than I paid for either one both times so I let them go to the new owners.
