took my 88 AHB to the local safelite a few months ago to get the windshield replaced. it had a huge crack in it. had for many years. i had thought it'd be an easy cheap option. $200 bucks. hurray. well.... they cracked the replacement. they assured me they'd replace it under warranty. that was 2 months ago. every time i go up there and ask they say the part hasn't come in and Diplomat windshields are very hard to come by and aren't in any of their warehouses. i was under the impression Dip windshields were relatively common. at least as of 10 years ago. are they BSing? i had tried to get one off a junked Fifth not long ago but i just proceeded to crack it...

They are hard to find new on a 2dr. I never tried to find one for a 4dr. Probably getting obsolete also Ask for the part number so you can do your own search Looks like it may be DW859T. Classic Industires shows them online. Not sure if the really have one

There are or were a few different companies making them. Mine is Mexican and the blue strip on the top is wider then any other I've ever seen.

There are some ebay sellers and I've also seen classic Industries claim to have them.

They also pop up on car-part.com used

I don't mind if it's not NOS. I'm just sick of peeking through a huge crack and being nervous every time I see a Ford Explorer. I looked at classic industries one. thing is my work is supposed to be under warranty. so yeah if I bought it, I'm sure they'd put it in for free, but I'd also be out the $200 + shipping to buy the windscreen that should have been under warranty. do i bite the bullet?

Why not ask them why classic industries can find one but they can't, and if they've been jerking you around for 2 months maybe try and talk to someone above them in corporate ladder

I reread the post. I can't believe they charged you to install a broken windshield. It honestly sounds like they're trying to burn out the warranty period on you so you go away.

Would you pay someone to install a broken transmission?

was honestly under the impression i just had to come back the next week and it'd all be taken care of. a bit daft on my part. was in no mood to make a stink in their office. just wanted to go home and get ready for work. kept my receipts. i went back to their office for a "written guarantee" and they said they couldn't since they couldn't find a windshield in their warehouses and need to do a "nationwide search" why can't THEY get one off classic industries?

You need to talk with someone above whoever you've been talking with. Someone made a mistake and he's trying to make you eat it

It's probably one of those things that they deal with their own supplier who can't get it and being a chain they are limited to what they can do sourcing it on their own.
It's not even a warrantee problem when it was damaged by them from the start It's their problem.
