The Long Story of the '78 Dodge Diplomat Restoration

Thanks Robert for your comment and pictures. A nice T-Bird too and they do look similar to me. The steering wheel in mine was and extra if I recall correct. When dusting her off she started but the horn kept blowing. Teard off the centre and unplugged the contact. The fault was in the spokes as...

The Long Story of the '78 Dodge Diplomat Restoration

Your story is facinating and very similar to mine. I bought her in 1991, changed the automatic gearbox as that packed in. Drove her till 2000 and put her away for 22 years before bringing her out in daylight again. Funny thing about rust as the same has popped up tn the trunk. Rust on the left...

Thanks Mike for your good advice. Of course that would save time and money as I have all new parts for the 10" brakes and drum.

I guess so but you may ask for a quote from Federal Express. I have found them very serviceminded and quick off the mark. RockAuto use them and from them I have had some spares stocked up ready for the weather to warm up. Then it is easier to work outside. Here is our Aspen taken in Germany on...

The way we drive these rare birds 10" is more than enough. I will see if I simply move the brakes over to the 8 1/4".

As I have laid my hands on a 8 1/4" rear axel for her I have had some valuable tips regarding swapping from 7 1/4". The axel is in fine fettle and complete. I know I have to have a shorter differential and that represent no problem as a friend of mine has the correct one here in Norway. But...

I have not yet made up my mind but I think 11" brakes may be the best. Pretty sure the 7 1/4" axel has 10". I will sort everything out this weekend. Spring brackets no problem over here and I would guess they have to be wider due to 1" wider axel. Thanks for your tip regarding backing plate. I...

Hi all of you members from an update from Scandinavia. My G22 1978 is slowly coming along during my slow restauration. Time does not permit me many days off to carry on. Having said that I had trouble with the instrument panel not working as it should. The voltage regulator packed in (what I...

    Radio connections, electric antenna G22

Hi Mike, Phu, I finally got the hang of it after a few days thinking and more thinking, making drawings and so on. I have come up with the following: The red and orange wires both get 12 volts: the red is switched by ignition or accessory; the orange powers the internal light from the headlamp...

Thanks Mike for your help. Page 50 (8-281) is easy to follow but one thing I do not quite understand so please help: From the control box there is a line from the uppermost contact point to page 51; Wire x12 20BKR/R* Following that to page 51 is a little difficult as that page is a bit out of...

Fantastic of you Mike. A million thanks to you and glad my memory was not far off your scheme here. Now I am sure I will manage to sort it out. If there is anything I can do for you please let me know. I have made and Exel database of all the parts Arizona, Len Dawson and Jersey parts have. Not...

    Radio connections, electric antenna G22

Sure must be as they will fit the the relay or control module I have found at Arizona Spares. But I have a feeling connection may be done without that box/relay. As far as I remember there was a dotted line from the radio to the antenna.
