    A/C hoses?

There is one brand that still made them a few years back (I cant for the life of me think of the name right now....)...Auztozone's online catalog showed them having them.....but when contacted "we cant get them anymore". :(

    A/C hoses?

Yes sir.....Around HERE there were 4 places I knew well that did them. That number is down to one. My son is in Ohio and he is having trouble finding a shop that does them. I told him worse comes to worse, send me the hose and I will have it done at the last shop I know of around here.....a...

    A/C hoses?

Yeah we already had the system "converted" several years ago.....kiddo replaced the evaporator, and the shop here did the rest of the conversion, evacuated it, filled it.... and it worked for a while....but a hose went bad.....probably should have redone all the hoses THEN (some 10 years ago)...

    A/C hoses?

(deep, patient breath) It's not rocket science, indeed. Kind of a snarky reply, maybe? If that is not how you intended it apologies, but to me, it comes across that way. Life is too short to be anything besides nice..,..especially online where sometimes it is hard to know the intention of a...

Warning about today's Gas and Carburated Cars.

Ive been using STabil 360 for years now....I try and run all the cars at least once a month....nice long drive.....but in the winter they set for 3 months without being used or even started, in storage. SO far never had a problem...the Stabil 360 seems to do the trick.

    Evaporator - pulling heater box

Is it possible to drop the heater box on a 81 Dippy without tearing apart the whole dash? If so, how bad a job is it? I have pulled the heater box on my 72 Cuda a few times and its easy peasy....10 minutes. But I am thinking this o not the same...LOL Thinking I have a leaky evaporator

    A/C hoses?

SO obviously A/C parts like hoses are no longer available OEM. What is the go to way of replacing hoses these days? Local shops do not seem to know what end is up sometimes.... One shop told my son that you cant use the new freon in an old R12 system because it operates at higher pressures...

    Rear "ISO MOUNTS" 80 Volare

SO we sourced the lower plates and poly biscuits.... Turns out the upper plates/shock mounts are trash too...... Soooooooo......anyone have a set they wanna sell? LOL Or are these "unobtanium" ??

    Rear "ISO MOUNTS" 80 Volare

My son had the rear ISO mounts fail on him today....the u bolts sheered......butt end of the car dropped, axle separated from the leaf springs.... I have never heard of this happening.....but...it happened.....All I can figure is that the ISO stuff failed and resulted in stress on the u bolts...

Replace power steering box in 1980 Volare

So, if there appear to be NO leask from the input shaft (steering shaft), internally should be ok? From what we can see the leak is just from the pitman arm. Also, is pulling the pitman off the box only and not from the steering link doable? Found a video online, a guy doing a ram.....he was...

Replace power steering box in 1980 Volare

Every time I have tried to get a pitman off (3 times in my life) it has been miserable. On my dakota I coudlnt get it off even with a rented puller......ended up taking it to a shop...they spent a couple hours and used heat and it eventually came off.....I guess I sissied out too soon. On my...

Replace power steering box in 1980 Volare

Is it a direct fit, or are mods needed? Use the same pitman, hoses, etc?

Replace power steering box in 1980 Volare

Happy new year to all! Starting off the new year, waking up early and cant get back to sleep because the mind starts chewing on things that need done. I apologize for the length of this post - been crafting it since 7am (its 830 now)... I know that turns some folks off.....but this is where my...

    Broken carb

I was thinking the same thing.....problem is, around here, all fuel is 10% ethanol.... :( He uses Stabil 360 but that hasnt seemed to help.

    Broken carb

Ended up swapping the top over .....son did a great job....wasn't intimidated at all..... No issues other than he found , after pulling the top off, that the accelerator pump was AGAIN deformed/folded over on itself.....this is like the 3rd or 4th time he has encountered this. Last couple...

    Broken carb

We do have a second 2bbl that wasnt running right....I guess we could tear apart the current one and replace just the top section..... I dont recall what all that involves though......and not sure why the second one was running bad.....would hate to sap bad parts over to the current one.... A...

    Broken carb

So what would be the consequences of a piece of that alumabond stuff , should it fail, getting into the carb/manifold? Given the design of the intake it wouldnt drop right in.....but it could eventually work its way into a combustion chamber..... Think it would cause damage?

    Broken carb

My son has a Carter 2bbl on his slant six.... It was a NOS carb when we put it on and in like new shape. That was a good 6 years ago. Seems that part of the casting where the aircleaner hold down "bail" is attached has broken, shown in the picture. The loose piece was found, it did NOT go...

    81 Dippy brake light switch

Found that my brake lights were not working at all.....all 4 dead......did the usual checks...bulbs, fuse.... Turns out the witch on the pedal was not...er...switching. It was loose on the mount so first thing I tried was to tighten it up a bit...no change......so.... I took it out (they...

Revers Lights Flickering, Lord Have Mercy

I was going to suggest the NSS too....and I echo the issue with aftermarket NSSs.....I had tried one in my Cuda smallblock 7272 trans and while it fit fine it did not trigger the lights at all...so my guess is it was too short..... I ended up finding an aftermarket one at Carlisle a couple...
