Temperature gauge not working at all

Does the fuel gauge work?. If so I think the problem lies in the gauge itself or part of the pcb circuit for the gauge. If all the gauges aren't working properly could be a faulty voltage stabiliser. The one on the instument panel, not the charging circuit. Roger.

Temperature gauge not working at all

I had trouble with the gauges on my Fifth Avenue, it was the posts on the back of the circuit board for the multi-plug connecter not properly conncting with the board. Patience and some time with a soldering iron fixed it. But try the simple and obvious stuff first. Roger.

torsion bar ride quality vs coil spring

A torsion bar is a straightened out coil spring, or if you prefer, a coil spring is a torsion bar wound into a spiral..... OK it's not quite that simple, but not far off. Production costs and chassis design are the main factors in deciding which layout to use. Other systems used have been rubber...

Looking for M Body headliner rods, or alternatives.

Ah!. That might explain why I can't find them.o_O Thank you. Not a lot of point looking for something that doesn't exist..... Are the moldings available?. Roger.

Looking for M Body headliner rods, or alternatives.

Finally got round to the interior of my 1984 Fifth Avenue. It needs a headliner, all I have is the two longitudinal bars that run down the each side of the roof and the front bar by the windshield. That's it, nothing else at all. :( I have taken the car to a few upholstery shops, a couple are...

Lots of work behind me....lots more ahead again.

Take the speedometer cluster out. A bit fiddly but not difficult. I suggest you replace every bulb while you're there. Sorry I took so long to reply. Roger.

Can I put the air assisted shocks in the back of my '88 5th?

I had the rear springs on my Fifth Avenue refurbished, brought the ride height back to original and gave a much improved ride. I was advised that the shock mountings aren't up to dealing with a sustained load, and as the shocks are at an angle to the suspension direction of travel air shocks...

    Wiper issues on a 1987 5th Ave...

I replaced the bushes on my Fifth Avenue, cost very little for a kit to be sent from the USA to England, I think they were Dorman brand. Took all the slack out of the mechanism. Roger.

First thing to check is the grounds. A bad ground will typically give the symptoms you have. Roger.

    Cracked tire warning!

I replaced the tires on my Fifth Avenue when i noticed a few cracks in them. I'm really glad I did, primarily because I'm confident it rides on safe rubber now, but also swapping out the 225/70-15's for the correct size 205/75-15 significantly improved the ride quality and the speedometer now...

Back Pressure - Can anyone explain?

You achieved your goal of making the car quieter, maybe it has a bit more torque at low revs, maybe not. Has gas mileage changed for better or worse?. If gas mileage hasn't suffered enjoy your serene ride and quit worrying. Roger.

    M Body Brake switch removal.

No, it looks like a relay either behind or part of the switch. But thanks anyway. Now it's confession time; "Always check the obvious", well someone my age who made a living fixing cars for many years would do that, obviously. So why didn't I look at the fuse? I replaced the blown...

    M Body Brake switch removal.

The brake switch is entirely disconnected from the turn signals. UK law requires amber turn signals front and rear operating independently from all other lamps. I'll put up a picture of how I got round this later. It seems my model has a different switch because it has cruise control, however I...

    M Body Brake switch removal.

Hello again guys. The brake lights on my 1984 Fifth Avenue don't work, I checked the bulbs, all good, so I turned to the switch. The plunger seems to be sticking, I got it moving but not enough to make contact, no surprise there. How do I remove the switch?, can it be overhauled?. I cant go to...

    Part name

It squirts extra fuel down the venturi, much like an enrichment device. some of the fuel will form a mist as it gets sucked past the inlet valve, it will help fire up a cold mixture. Roger

    Need advice on trim removal

Apologies for piggybacking on to your thread, but I can't figure out how to replace the windshield molding trim on my 1984 Fifth Avenue. I'm guessing you do?. Any help would be much appreciated, I'm in the UK and can't find anyone over here who knows how to do it. Roger.

    Front wheel hub

Thanks Bud. I intend to go to a car show in Belgium in May, no need to take the wheels, or a trip to The Netherlands then. :) Roger.

    Front wheel hub

A friend of mine is parting out a Dodge Caravan, 4 steel wheels and a donut spare. 15", 4 1/2" pcd, but I don't know if the offset is correct. If your Volare has the same wheels as my 1984 Fifth Avenue I can try them for size. Roger.

    M Body windshield molding.

The clips have arrived, but I have no idea how to fit them. I cannot find anything on this site or you tube that helps. Can anyone help please?. I hope they are the correct clips, it has cost about $70 to get them delivered!.:( Roger.

    Front wheel hub

Try some UK classic British car websites, older British cars had imperial (inch) measurements. Possibly old Jaguar wheels might fit. It could be very likely you might find the correct wheels from a UK source too. Many American car owners over here seem to want to stuff the biggest wheels they...

    Front wheel hub

When my Dodge truck broke some wheel studs I found Massey Ferguson tractor studs were an exact fit....o_O I have also found getting bearings from engineering suppliers can save a heap of money, for example a bearing for my Oldsmobile auxiliary belt idler cost $1.63 delivered to my door. Unlike...
