    Aspen/Volare woes...rust never sleeps

I don’t know how many assembly plants they had for the Fbody but I’ve wondered if that would have any impact on whether some cars blew up with rust or not. On my 76 it was basically just the front fenders that disintegrated but the shell was solid at eleven years old. Only having minor rust in...

    Aspen/Volare woes...rust never sleeps

By 1980 Chrysler had a better handle on the rust but 76 and 77 you could wash the damn things and watch the rust blisters appear.

    Aspen/Volare woes...rust never sleeps

The Fbody rusted so fast that they came with their own salt shakers. They rusted every where, I’ve always been surprised by where you find the rust.

    And She's Back

I love air cooled VWs, I’d drop everything and get the VW on the road. They are different and fun and everyone will has something to say about the one they had back in the day. Driving a bug will brighten your day.

    408 W2 Stroker Build

Back in the eighties I ran the Carter race pump on my 500hp 440 and it couldn’t keep up, I ended up with a Holley race pump at the tank pushing to the Carter. Later I removed the Carter all together. Now I use a Quick Fuel Pump and return regulator with 1/2” lines going both ways, it is so...

    Bumpers

The Aspen has turn signals in the the bumper and the Volare has them in the grill but it will bolt on.

    FMJ with Super Stock springs

The way it was done back in the day was to use the main leaf of a stock leaf spring and then use the bundle from the SS springs and then clamp the front leaves together.. However I would fabricate or modify the Ebody hangers for the length needed. But now days I would use Calvert Racing springs...

Battery suggestions for F body big block swap

The largest optional battery for a fully loaded 360 will work just fine for a 440 and recommend using a starter off of 1990 Dodge Dakota V6 on your big block… A battery tender will do wonders for battery life. One more thing buy a decent quality battery, I’ve very good luck with NAPA batteries.

    Hair pulling transmission problem

Was the new transmission complete or did you need to swap parts? Have you verified that the transmission mechanicly goes through the gear rage at the valve body without the vehicle running? Park is park, neutral is neutral, drive is drive etc. etc.? Also verified the kick down linkage is...

    Hood Scoop ??.⁶

I believe every factory functional hood scoop was sealed from the engine compartment so it only took in cold air from outside the engine compartment. I could be wrong but I can’t remember one.

A BODY TO F BODY FRONT END

The Fbody is wide like an Ebody, a 440 easily fits the engine compartment like a B or Ebody. The Fbody fenders have a rounded side profile the Abody fenders are pretty much flat in comparison. The Fbody hood is much wider than the Abody. US Body Source had hoods and bumpers at one time but in my...

    Hood Scoop ??.⁶

Try it and see if your car doesn’t pick up some mph with a little free forced air… mine did and needed a little more jet. Also if I remember correctly your car doesn’t have a stock engine compartment to retain heat like most of the cars here do so the comparison is irrelevant.

    Hood Scoop ??.⁶

For a hood scoop to work properly you need to seal the bottom of the air cleaner to the bottom of the hood so the engine only receives air from outside the engine compartment. I would recommend opening up the hole as large as possible and fabricating a large air box around the air cleaner that...

$200 8 1/4 Sure Grip axle, F body, Wisconsin Facebook

I’ve had several 8.25 diffs and axel’s that I ended up giving away because nobody wanted them. Swapping out a diff is fairly straightforward and getting a good pattern is usually as simple as setting backlash. He will be lucky if it doesn’t go to the scrapper.

The gears suck but it’s worth a couple hundred bucks, you might even be able to work him down a little to say $150.

    Help me identify my chassis

I worked for a guy that did it to his personal vehicle and somehow it was discovered, he was a used car dealer, he got charged with a felony and he lost the vehicle plus he was charged with a money crime because he had a bank note on the vehicle that had the frame from another vehicle under it...
