i recently found a bag in my shed that had three 219L spotlight brackets. i never checked what these were and went and bought a nice spotlight with a 220 bracket online for around 160 bucks. well i got curious and looked up a list of all brackets and low and behold, 219 is for the 81 Lebaron and Diplomat. is there any difference at all? whats up with the name change?

ok looking now i see one is moved outward more.

I picked up a brand new unity installation kit. Someone actually had one locally (I was shocked). I plan on drilling mine out this summer.

seems like there are still lots of Ms in NY. A John Deere green Dip with spokes and a spotlight? gonna look interesting. like a Fire Dept vehicle.

I don't see that many. I have bunch of police wheels and hubcaps The plan is to eventually paint the wheels green and make it look fun. I think I'll even paint the 360 green just for the silliness of it all. But I'm not getting anything done lately. It's too cold.

If i get a chance I'll scan the paper template for drilling the hole that came with the installation kit and see if there's a way to post it to the forum true to size

if i had to go green on an M. the old 70s/early 80s mint green looked real sharp.

as for painting the motor. mopar blue always looked nice. dad's 83 had the blue valve covers. though red might fit the rest of the car better

thinking about. since i have a 219L and a 219R. how would my car look with dual spotlights? that was a very uncommon thing here on the east coast, esp in Maryland though i think some traffic depts had a red spotlight and a clear one.

I like the look of 2 better then one. It looks unbalanced on only one side.
It's not that common here either yet all of my X police cars have both and the one that doesn't originally came with the passenger one but its missing.

i thought cop cars in Canada didn't use spotlights. always thought of dual spotlights as a California thing.

That's a new one lol spotlights are probably as common here as the U.S.
Dual ones are a lot more rare, why would they pay for the second one unless there's regularely someone in the passenger seat to use it but there out there. Here's a couple east coast cars with them.

interesting. i'd noticed it on Canadian Crown Vics. though my research is just RCMP and Toronto Police. don't think many of their Dips and Caravelle's had em either. i think now the Explorers come with spots from the factory

On the Fords and chargers you were able to order them with 1 or 2 spotlights.
On the M bodies when you open the door you can see the raised spot in the pillar to clear where the shaft goes through.

It used to be departments sent them to little shops to get all the equipment installed. Gradually, since about the whale body Crown Vics if not even earlier, the car companies started offering these services as part of the ordering process so the fleet vehicles can be put into service faster. This is done with everything, not just police cars. They do this now with work trucks, buses, DOT trucks etc. Some of this stuff can be shipped to the customer with everything but the guns and radio. Usually, it is. The OEM even does the decal wraps now and many no longer require custom paint jobs. They just wrap them. They come off the train with divider, lightbars, all the lights, push bars, PA, consoles, fire extinguishers, some agencies have a fire suppression system like NYPD. First Aid kits, NARCAN. The fleet manager just checks the boxes.
