7.25 9 and 10 bolt differences

Asking on behalf of a Facebook user from Poland who ruined the ring and pinion in his 83 Fifth Avenue. I didn't think having a 9 or 10 bolt pattern made a difference when selecting a gear ratio, but since this 2.93 from Motive Gear specifies 9 bolt, I figured I'd ask you guys before I recommend it to him.

I never paid attention to 7.25 but thought the biggest difference wsmas that axle tube diameter and the gears were the same.

I thought the same thing, but wanted to be sure before he made a purchase. 8.25 upgrade is out of the question due to costs so he's keeping the 7.25.

Sourcing an 8.25" in Poland would probably be next to impossible. What about other makes? Ford 8.8 is a popular swap.

I'll mention it to him, since I haven't gotten back to him yet. He was going to have another 2.2 gear made till he learned the $1000 price tag that he'd incur.
