The article says that they are starting with the M-Body 2 door.
What makes it look like a Monte carlo is the full rear top and that
quarter panel line. which I think is a decal. it was free hand scetched.
The M-Body Coupe rear side window will just be filled in or not cut out.
Heres a pic of a 86 Charger which would have been the year this would
have come out. See how the nose of the Charger looks like the drawing?
The rough sketch looks too much like an amalgamation of Daytona, Monte Carlo SS, and Dippy coupe to be anything all that great. Kinda just a re-hash of elements, and Chryco didn't really have a V-8 making any power...
Well they did say they wanted something to support their NASCAR program.
and the 86 AHB engine camed up a bit wouldnt be healhy?
Theres another page to this article. That maybe had more details.
I have faith that if Chrysler had gone through with it, they would have
came up with enough power to compete with the other 2 at the time.
When year did Petty leave Chrysler for Pontiac?
"The engine would be a MODIFIED police spec 318 with Chrysler/Bosch fuel injection producing 200 HP. A 727 auto trans and a 8 1/4 3.55 gear sure-grip rear"
I think the '84-5 Monte's had 180 HP. To bad Chrysler was so focused on FWD (though the little 2.2's would run like hell with turbo's) at the time, it would have been a good alternative to the Monte Carlo/Grand Prix/Cutlass 442 and Thunderbird/Couger of the day. Still wonder why Ma never made a 4spd auto like GM and Ford.
