On my 1980 Mirada I just got I am going to install a 440 since I have about 7 of them lying around plus lots of extra big block parts. A question I have is with this big block A body oil pan that is now being reproduced part number 2863892 would it be a good oil pan to use for the big block swap? I already have several of the C/B body oil pans lying around that I could use but this A body oil pan looks to have around a 6 qt capacity and has some baffles in it. I will be using Shumacher type mounts or will cut the spool frame mounts and move them back in the frame to position the engine farther back than if I just used a 73 on up big block motor mounts by themselves. The oil pan almost looks like a modified version of the 70 and up 440hp/440 6, Hemi oil pan. Looking at starting to order parts since who knows how long some of these parts will be reproduced?

I'm using the Milodon road race pan in mine. It's the one with kick outs for additional capacity and baffled with doors. Took some trimming on the back of the K, but it fits.

I would highly recommend using an oil filter relocation kit. Changing the filter is a pain in the ass and you will need to do quite a bit of clearance work to the get the oil pump to fit.

I'm not familiar with the BB A-body pan. I've got a Milodon stock replacement (with matching pickup tube) in my car and it fits perfectly (500" stroker RB). You can't really move the engine back any farther than "stock". With BB spool mounts and the trans bolted to the stock crossmember in the stock location, my engine is very close to the firewall. As in, I can barely get my skinny fingers between the right valve cover and firewall close.
