Alternator belt slant 6

Hello all,

Another rookie question, anyone know on which pulley (there are two slots) the belt goes on for the alternator? Belt is for water pump and alternator. It kinda looks off on either so it is messing with my mind. It is correctly on the middle of the three groves on the flywheel pulley. Thanks for any help....

I went with the outside one near the front as the coolant hose was close to the belt - it helped me decide

Hi! If you're using an alternator with the two-groove pully, it really should be using the groove that is closest to the alternator. The original alternator for the slant-six would not have had the second groove, and it would have been "close" to the alternator body, not an inch outboard like the two-groove version.
