Hello All,

Need some feedback from anyone that has used a Hughes 'HUG SER2226ALN-10' in their 318? I haven't purchased the cam as yet, out of stock at the moment. Focus of the modifications is torque and not horsepower along with sufficient vacuum for power brakes. The choice of the above Hughes part number (details in the link below), is linked to the lengthy engine details below.

The engine is the roller cam version of the LA. The heads are the '302' version and will have mild porting (incl. bowls) and gasket matching. Valves will remain stock but may be upgraded to 1.88" / 1.60". Compression ratio will end up around 9.5 to stay with regular pump gas. Exhaust manifolds will be cast iron Magnum truck type (no air pump provision), as I want to keep the interior noise level down, headers are noisy by nature. Exhaust pipes will be 2.5" to a twin inlet muffler with a single outlet to a 3" tail pipe. Intake is a Weiand 8022 dual plane with a 600 cfm Brawler. Ignition will be a combination of a GM HEI module coupled with a 45K volt Blaster coil. Timing will be ~36 degrees at ~2,000 rpm (initial + centrifugal). Transmission will be an A518 (4 speed auto w/lock-up), with a 2500 stall converter along with 3.55 SureGrip rear axle and 27" tall rear tires.

Looking forward to the feedback.
