Hi guys! Darlene was injured on June 2nd by an errant cab driver.
I picked her up last week, and I’m pleased the body work turned out great. I only received the replacement pin-stripes today, and applied them this evening. I’m pleased to report that the car is back to 5 stars. Darlene is now ready to be seen in public again.

As an aside, the wet-sanding that I requested turned out great. If you’ve never had “paint correction” performed, it’s worth every cent. All of the swirls and light scratches that had snuck into the finish are long gone.

I do. On the build-sheet, the color code is SC9. The name of the color is Nightwatch Blue.

    Darlene Burns, by chance?

She looks awesome! I just saw some of those deep-dish 10 spoke alloys on the Portland Oregon craigslist... maybe I should get them. There's only 2 wheels in the ad, you only see one side of a car at a time so..... is that so wrong?

As I recall, cars would get a special factory code on their data plate if they had a factory wet-sand polish. This was commonly found on cars that were purchased for use in new-car-show circuits, dealer demos, etc. I have no idea what code # that would be.

There's lots of You-Tube vids about getting "perfect black paint" by wet-sanding with specific grits of sandpaper.

"Paint Correction" is not the same as wet sanding. In the detailing world, wet sanding is wet sanding, and is far more aggressive than paint correction. Paint correction involves the use of a machine polisher (rotary or orbital of one sort of another). The amount of "cut" will vary some, but the most aggressive paint correction only really starts where wet sanding leaves off.

I just love that colour, SC9/Nightwatch Blue. Total class all the way. Your car looks amazing.

That car is stunning! No surprise its a feature car. Nightwatch Blue is beautiful when its clean and sunny. There is a little metallic that comes to life IIRC. Wet sanding and/or buffing the finish flat, as in smooth really brings makes a car stand out. I never see enough of this car.

Thanks for the compliments! I had one in high-school that I bought with about 75,000 miles on the clock. That was 1990. By 1992, it had 130,000 on it -- and by virtue of being parked outside, driven hard, and parked wet; it promptly rusted to the ground. When I found it, I had no idea what it was; but fell immediately in love. I searched -- for 3 years -- to find "Darlene." She had only 8,xxxx miles on her - had to have it!
