Can anyone recommend some good quality shocks?

Let's face it, I've never cared much about shocks and have always bought the midline Monroes and such. I was looking to get some new shocks for my Volare wagon to replace the stocks and was looking for a recommendation that would provide a really nice ride, perhaps better than OEM. I would spend up to $50 for each and am looking to replace all 4.
