Anyone have a carpeted spare tire cover on their spare tire? I was at a car show today and there was an F-Body that had a carpeted spare tire cover over the spare. It dressed up the trunk area real nice like. Spare cover was the same carpet texture and color of teh trunk carpet. I asked the owner where he got the spare cover from......said it came with the car????? Never seen that before.....Anyone else seen that or got any idea where a guy can buy one?
Show me pics of your F-body spare cover.:help:

Yeah, I got one and I have the tail light jack cover but not the side panels. Found the wheel cover at a bone yard, I'm pretty sure I got it from a M body sometime ago. Both my 77 and 79 have the top mounted spare behind the seat. Seen lots with the spares in the trunk floor. Never thought of opening my trunk up at a show but I guess I should LOL. My PC is on the fritz so I've been using my son's laptop so I need to get him to post the pics.
Those wheel covers do cover a full size spare.

Thanks for the response. Do you know if this was a factory option or a cover borrowed from another make (M-body). Just curious, cause it looked as if it could have been a factory option.

All I could find was C97 Carpeted Trunk Dress Up option for F bodies. Couldn't find a break down for it. You could look on Hamtramck Registries in their Library. Tons and tons of info.
The one I have is a factory piece but for the life of me, I can't remember which Mopar I got it from. It was definitely an F or M body though.

Pretty sure my 51,000 mile 79 Aspen parts car has one, but I need to look. Haven't opened the trunk in over a year, lol.

Looking for black, but i am sure i could dye it if needed. If you have one let know how much and post a pic or two. Thanks A38Valiant!

It has one, although I don't know if it's original or not. The texture doesn't seem to match the carpet. It's black, and fits a donut spare. Let me know if you still need pics.

my car came with it. It is a 77 R/T superpak with the fold down rear seat. I believe the cover came standard with the fold down seat which came with the carpet in the trunk area. It is the same texture of the front carpet which is a loop carpet. I am not selling mine though. Sorry too much crap in my trunk to take a picture right now.

It basically looks like a circle of carpet to cover the wheel and a strip of carpet around the tread sewn together. Could be made pretty easily with a heavy duty sewing machine and some of the replacement carpet.

Ok I went out to look at something else on my car so I went and pulled the cover off and attached are some pictures.

You can see the texture of the carpet.

roadrunner,

if you could get some extra carpet, you could probably get someone with a heavy duty machine to stitch it for you. Mine has no markings on it underneath that I can see. There is one spot at the top of the picture where it is turned over, where the part around the tread is shorter thant the rest, kinda a curved area. I have never seen them on the bag or craigslist.

I guess I need to give it a good vacuuming now that I took a good look at the closeup pictures.:toothy9:

Bremer,
Nice job! Looks factory. On my 79 the tire is actually mounted up and tucked in the back right corner. Not recessed in the middle. I like your style much better Kinda like the earlier A bodys.

Thats because Erics is an early 77, where ours are late 77 and up. Early ones had the well and the hump gas tank, ours has no well and flat tank.
I always liked the well to hide the spare. I am not sure why they changed. At the time it was probably cost, due to a simpler floor and simpler gas tank, as later mopars have had the well.
