thanks for the help, I'm looking for suggestions the top of teh door panel on my 1980 Cordoba is cracked. i know its a common problem. is there any way to reinforce it and repair the crack? I'm not looking for perfection just better then it is
I've had excellent success repairing plastic with this stuff. Some plastic parts on my Aspen were repaired using it and 10 years later, still holding strong.
You can also glue the cracks and then cover with vinyl. But you will never conquer the issue. It breaks at stress points and when the plastic tries to expand and contract, it can't because it's doing so at a different rate than the rubber guide
That is a problem with 35-40 year old plastic, especially any that get lots of sun exposure, like the top of the door and the quality of the plastic used way back then. It gets brittle and deteriorated and cracks very easily when trying to expand and contract with temperature. All we can do is repair as best as possible, make do and be as careful as we can with it.
