Door panels

I have a project 5th Ave I got from a buddy. The interior was all in the trunk of the car. So I cleaned it all up but when I went to put the door panels on, they had shrunk and wouldn’t fit. Anyone have a remedy to stretch them back out?
 
Buy new panel board. Cut it to size. Mount old door panel on to new board. Come up with some kind of new trim around the edge to cover the gap

Also the tops of these panels are steel. So what exactly shrank? Pics?
 
Just where all the clips snap to the door on the lower half. they’re all about a quarter inch away from their holes.
