235/75/15s - too big for an 89 fifth? Comment please-my friend has a nice set of toyo white walls for sale cheap!

They would be roughly 1 3/4" larger diameter than the stock size (205's) and a hair wider. Might vary slightly by brand but, a 235 is about 28.9" dia and a 205 is about 27.1" dia. No idea if the extra height will cause clearance problems or not. Hopefully someone who has tried it will chime in. The 235's will make your speedo show slower than actual speed.

Not to shure on the 235/75’s but I have 225/70/15’s on all 4corners and on the front they BARELY clear when backing up

A 225/70 is roughly 3/8" taller (and a hair wider) than a 205/75-15 at about 27.4" dia which is 1 1/2" shorter than a 235/75 so, if the 225/70's almost rub.................
I’m not going to comment about tire size too much.
What I do want to comment about is be sure to look at the tire manufacture date – which is stamped onto one side of the tire (inside or outside). If tire was made after 2000, it will have 4 digits stamped into tire, just after the DOT number.
Examples:
35th week of 2007 (WHICH ARE TOO OLD)!
13th week of 2017 (these would be good to go).
Tires are not safe to drive on after they are 10 years old (or 7 years in hot areas like Phoenix). Look at that tire stamp before purchasing! I wouldn’t purchase them if they are 8-9 years old (unless you are looking for the wheels, as well) – unless they were a steal.
Most of the tires I see for sale at a bargain are typically not safe to drive on.

235/75/15 are too big...they will rub on front suspension in turns and on the rear (I forget where...leaf spring?).
Largest tire I got on a 5th Ave was 225/75/15.
