If anyone happens to have an OEM motor out of an M body removed, please advise what the part number on it is. I have an '89 and OEM front window motor has 4480302 stamped on it but my parts catalog shows it should be 4467304. I thought they might be interchangeable but the internet is not helpful with that.

The only thing that makes them not interchangeable is the plugs changed at some point. I'm pretty sure it was an 88/89 thing but it's been a long time since I had to deal with that.
Ive got the loose motors kicking around but don't know where they are!?

These are mine out of my 87

looks like 4184214 and 4184215 20260614_204957.jpg20260614_204949.jpg20260614_204931.jpg20260614_204801.jpg20260614_204753.jpg

Thanks guys! It would make sense what Mike says. Just the plug changed. I got to take another look at my connectors. I was getting all kinds of numbers and applications on internet. I saw a NOS one but it says it's for 1987 and that it won't fit an '89. I figured what are the odds they changed motors? Slim. Probably IS connectors. I'll post a pic of mine soon.

These Motors can be repaired.
Mine had a rusted out spring for the brushes inside.

There is a thread somewhere.

The gears (plastic) can be changed and lubed as well.

Yes I've replaced many of the gears. My driver's window is being a problem right now. I've replaced the gear multiple times but they keep getting chewed up after only a few uses. I cannot figure it out. Faulty gears? Regulator problem? Everything looks fine with regulator etc. and window goes up and down nice and smooth the first five or so times and then eats the gear. I'm considering trying another motor so I was asking about the part numbers because of some contradicting part numbers.

Here's the one that has been in my driver's door for decades. Only thing I've done is replace gear (long time ago and then again recently).

My parts book for '89 M body shows window motors to be 4467304-5

Don't know what the - 5 means.

The worm gear in my motor looks fine too so I'm baffled as to why it keeps eating gears unless I got THREE bad new ones.

AMC adding to confusion is the fact that you have two different part numbers on your motors lol. Same motor is supposed to fit all four windows.
two have gears clocked one way, the other 2 are clocked the other way, I'm assuming this is a difference between either front and rear or driver side and passenger side.

I can't remember which ones were which.

You could always switch to manual windows, that's what I did.

But I am a bit of a hoarder, so I kept the motors and the regulators in case I change my mind 10 years from now.

I have a wild internet guess, that something is wrong with the regulator, maybe the spring broke or the pivot point is corroded or who knows what and the motor over works the gears and they shred.

The last p/n digit 4 means right side, 5 means left. The 1st 6 digits remain the same and 7th digit will be one or the other. All Mopar numbers with a dash are the same thing. Even is right, odd is for the left side.

Good to know!

Ah that would make sense. When you say "clock" you are referring to clocking it with the regulator teeth, right? Gear part #4339433 is listed as "left and right side".

Car is at storage garage. I'm anxious to get it home and look everything over AGAIN. Thanks!

Thank you very much!

I wish they had just put an "L" and an "R". I'm easily confused lol.

I'm very grateful for the help here. I really want to get this figured out.

Is it possible it's the other way around, or is partsgiant.com incorrect?
