On a Fuel sock, if it is pointing down at a 45 degree angle, will it suck gas at the bottom of the tank as the sock is exposed to No gas, but the end on the sock is still submerged in gas? or will it stop sucking gas as soon as the level reaches the bottom of the metal tube portion?
Inquiring minds just need to know.

So if any part of the sock is in gas you might not actually get gas. This means I need to drop the tank again to get the end of the tube all the way to the bottom. I was hoping to avoid the tank drop proceedure awhile.

How far is it off the bottom? I've never paid attention to that and only dropped it in.
I'd keep it a bit off the bottom, the gas will get mixed up anyway but when the sock deteriorates or falls off you don't want the pipe right at the bottom sucking in any sediment that might be there.

Are there any baffles in the tank? I mean, if it's that empty, with the (last quart of) gas moving around anyway - you might be running on fumes....

The sock is a quite raw filter, most likely to avoid stuff getting sucked into the pipe which could severely obstruct the fuel flow. Before the fuel filter upfront.

The sock is touching the bottom, the metal tube is about 2 1/2" to 3". with an empty tank, I added 1 1/2 Gal, as soon as I get my gauges back into the dashboard I will see if it sucks any Gas. I was hoping to add gas a gallon at a time and see what the gas gauge is reading.

With the sock touching the bottom of the tank (and the metal tube at least 2" from the bottom), and approximately 1.5 Gal added to the empty tank, the fuel pump was getting gas. I only drove about a 1/2 mile for gas.
So It seems my Sock will wick fuel if part of it is touching the fuel.
