Today was a good day.
236 mile round trip to a quality ENT (ear, nose, throat) to have my husband's vocal cords looked over by yet another doctor.

Such a pleasure to visit :
a hospital that does the parking right,
a door/mask/temperature nazi that doesn't complain when he can't walk, wear a mask, and keep his oxygen level high enough to not pass out,
an office staff that was friendly, courteous, and thoughtful
a nurse that didn't get offended when I had to remind her twice that my husband has no normal blood pressure-he has an LVAD- doh! She kept trying to get a pulse..
a doctor not scared of treating an LVAD patient, was patient with him to explain everything and gave him hope that he will have a more normal (although not perfect) voice
a scheduling possibility of no more than 3 weeks out instead of 6 months
an honest expectation that this will be an annual procedure once every 12 months --- but very doable
a drive to and from (while a long distance) had no ice, snow, or muck -- just a bit of wind and cold temps
a husband whose attitude went from bummer to upbeat in the course of just an hour...

Hope

A very powerful player in the world of chronic medical problems.

I'm officially sharing and sending out good vibes and good karma to all!

Good to hear good news, instead of doom and gloom. Hope things continue to improve.

Good to hear indeed. Trust you'll continue with better news going forward. All the best for both of you!

It's something else when you have to deal with the staff that can get on a power kick because you are supposed to conform to what ever there ways of doing things happen to be.
I've been needing to see a specialist for a health condition I have and the nurses are something else. One has a fit that I don't stop and preregister before going up to the office where I check in, many times scolding me the entire time I'm in the waiting room. I've even had a nurse take me back to the exam room and continue to scold me after I repeatedly told her I was done with the subject. I have a valid reason for doing what I do it's because I was told I can do it this way. Finally this last week I was told by the office manager to have the offensive nurse contact her so she could instruct her personally.
JW I like the word HOPE for use that have chronic conditions, it's something you don't get from the doctor's much anymore.

That is good to hear JW!

I had surgery on my right hand last Thursday in the ambulatory surgery dept. at a clinic and, everyone there from the check in desk, nurses, assistants, anesthesia tech, doctor, etc, were all great. No complaints at all. It's the way it should be.
