Yes, do you have a latch? The one end fits in and then the cable holder area runs through and you slide the little eyelet up tight and tighten the set screw on the cable.

Let me look at some of the under hood latches, I think they are the same and all have provisions for the cable, but just when I say that I could be wrong so I will look.

I do not.
It looks like I have the rod connected from the latch to where the bell crank should be.
