Been a while since I had something to update on the Imperial. But then a pretty warm 3-day weekend popped up. Admittedly, Saturday was a waste...spent the day at the Barrett-Jackson and Russo and Steele auctions, and capped it that night by going to the Scottsdale Pavillions where there is an absolutely gigantic cruise. Awesome time.

Got serious on the car though. As of now, the shifter issues have been sorted, I have electrical power and good power-on checks, the fuel tank is hooked up and from the tank to the original twin filters, the plumbing is ready. There's still a ton of work to be done to get it to the point of starting, let alone driving, but progress is progress...

Good work! Did you get a new tank? I think you were looking for one awhile ago, did you get the ebag gas tank shipped for $65

I didn't get a new tank. Had to go the cheap route, swapped tanks from the Mirada. Wasn't too bad to swap in, just had to replace the hoses to the hard lines.

Keep pluggin'. what happened to the mirada?

The Mirada is the donor. The rear subframe is rotted out badly...at some point in life, something bashed the passenger C-pillar bad enough to open sheet metal and the vinyl top. Years of WA weather took it's toll. It should be gone no later than the first week in February.

Yep, not only do the Miradas front frame rails rot, the rear frame rails rot directly above the rear axle. Seems pass side rot is worse than driver side...

Take good picks of your plumbing from the front of the fuel filters to the mechanical pump. I'll be doing this same swap on my Imperial in the coming weeks. I got a new tank and sending unit from Rock Auto...wasn't $65 cheap, but still under a hundred for both.

Will do. I'm still trying to figure out the $#*%-ing flowmeter rigging, but I think it'll be clearer once the Mirada's forward lines are put in..

I hope.

No paint yet. I'm going to talk to A painter in Chino Valley about painting it a darker shade of gray, but for now leaving the paint alone.

Too far away to do me good...

Not much going on, but for now, the rebuilt twin-filter system (I'm keeping it, I like the idea of redundancy here.)
