My hurry to get Mirada on the road for this summer is again over, due to once again expanding the project a bit too far. Maybe next summer!
Right now I am in a lookout for front spring mounts for Mirada with stock springs (oval front bushing with 9/16" bolt). I found a few models but some seem to be too shallow (round bushing?) and some have 5/8" bolt hole.
Is there a direct replacement? Or other body-model mount that fits?
My rear axle has been sandblasted, painted, re-sealed and all the bearings sorted by a professional. Also got new spring perches welded and got rid of the rubber cushion bushings. And here comes the but..
The perches might be slightly off-set (but exactly same distance from axle ends, luckily) since with stock front mounts the rear hangers bent outwards maybe half an inch and making the outter hanger bushings push inside the spring loop... My idea is to get new mounts and hangers and measure and re-align the front ones (drill/elongste chassis mounting holes) with the axle perches and rear hangers. The old ones are already too beaten, twisted and in all sense bad I don't want to reuse them. I contributed a bit to their current state by trying to modificate them with awful results! But found out bending them outwards 0.15-0.20" will do the trick!
