Hey Cap'n, I owned a 1979 Champ with the larger 1.6 liter (1.4 was std.) twin stick that would out run a lot of 318s....just sayin.
Not sure about top speed since the speedo only went to 85 mph but it was beyond buried. Stoplight to stoplight was what I meant. There is someone on this link that "guestimated" 115 mph but you can't prove it. This article is meant to dog the Plymouth Champ but the comments from real life owners tell a different story of the little cars.
