Nasty engine problems

Finally got around to tearing apart the 3`18 out of my Aspen R/T and found nothing good. Everything in it was severely damaged or destroyed. Does anyone know what might have caused the copper color on the rods? It won't rub off and I've never seen that before. Also lost a lobe on the cam. It's a true mess.

Copper colored rods are a factory coding.
But you are gonna have to go through the engine and figure out what caused the lack of oil........................unless you already know!
What bearing is that wiped one? wait, let me guess, driver's side; probably front?
That happened to me on two engines; both with high revs,and not enough oil in the pan;it just couldn't get back from the top fast enough.Air is not a good lubricant,lol.
I solved that with oiling mods,a 7qt oilpan,and checking the oil-level more frequently;no more worries.

It was number 3. But all bearings were bad. The only thing I'm keeping is the block. everything else is going away. Found a nice stroker kit with all forged components to turn it into a 390.
 
The motor was making noise from the time I bought it. I knew it didn't have long to live but wasn't expecting what I found. I'm going to keep it about 5500 with a bunch of boost from a 6-71 on top. Hopefully it will have a long life.
